Tin-Can Customs' revenue target is N1.130 trillion while it generates N716 billion.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Tin-Can Island command revealed on Tuesday that the amount of money it made from products brought into the nation in 2023 was an incredible N716 billion.

Compt. Dera Nnadi, the Customs Area Controller for the Command, provided information about the activities in 2023 and the aim for 2024 in Lagos. The command's income target for 2024 is N1.130 trillion.

He claims that in order for the command to reach its goal, it needs to produce more than N94 billion each week.

Even if the command has designated 2024 as the year of stakeholders, Comptroller Nnadi maintained that the goal was attainable.

"All told, the command is anticipated to generate N1.130 trillion, or N94.230 million, every day," he stated. Weekly revenue from the command is anticipated to be N21.666 billion.

Examining the preceding year's performance, he insisted that the command used stakeholder and officer capacity building as one of its instruments to fulfill its objective.

He added that deployment of ICT helped the command to optimise its efficiency in the outline year even as he maintained that more of the system would be applied for better efficiency in the new year.

He quipped that 24 hours and weekend port operations were applied in the previous year.

Speaking further, Compt. Nnadi applauded the officers of the command as well as stakeholders for their cooperation in generating the huge sum in 2023.

We have determined that 2024 will mark the involvement of stakeholders on Tincan Island. However, we won't think twice about taking serious action against those who refuse to reform.

He urged Nigerians to support commodities exports, saying that they are essential to the country's economy's existence.

In addition, he revealed that the command is prepared to give priority to frequent awareness campaigns and stakeholder involvement in order to facilitate commerce.
